1978 Custom 40ft

Indiantown, Florida

$39,000

New to our inventory. She is custom built 40ft Grp sloop, built in 1978 by my father in South Africa. She has an all glass hull, and the deck is glass over marine ply. Plans were designed by Marinus Goulooze and were based off the MG Racer Cruiser designs.

She is a strong, sturdy vessels that sails extremely well and very forgiving in tough conditions.

For blue water safety she was fitted with double back stays, running back stays and an inner forestay, roller furl and an additional forestay.

The keel is moulded into the hull with a thick steel base and side strip for protection.

The deck stepped mast sits on a bulkhead that is supported by a steel frame.

She sailed the east African coast line with my parents until 1985, the boat was then sold and the new owners learnt to sail on the east coast of Africa and then crossed the Atlantic where they spent many years in the Caribbean and the east coast of USA.

The subsequent years there is not much info, we know she spent a number of years on the Hard in New York and then again in Florida, where the owners we bought from found her and got her back on the water.

We stumbled upon the boat for sale on an internet site in 2019, we immediately knew it was the boat my father built as his custom and extraordinary carpentry skills are still evident through out the boat.

One of the highlights of the boat is the teak and stainless aft extension/swim platform which allows an extra 15sq foot of deck space outside of the cockpit with a ladder for easy access to the tender.

A great barbeque area, fishing platform or just chilling in the corner seats.
